Georgia Northeastern. February 24, 2008. A special one-time-only trip from Canton, Georgia south to the end of track in Elizabeth (Marietta). This is the first time we have been allowed south of Woodstock. Expect 17 road crossings that must be flagged in 28 miles. You must have a passenger in your car who can get out and flag. 15 car limit. This are rare miles - don't miss it! Set-on in Canton, Georgia. 56 miles round trip. Trip goes rain or shine or ????. HOG map

Heart of Georgia. April 12-13, 2008. A repeat of 2007. A 2-day excursion, out-and-back from Pitts, Georgia both days. Saturday we'll run to Almo and return. Sunday we'll run to Plains and return. Route crosses a couple of rivers, a lake, and four RR diamonds. Sunday's lunch is in Plains (Jimmy Carter's home). Approximately 250 miles total. $170 trip fee is for both days. Good motels in Cordele on I-75, about 12 miles from set-on. This may be our last year to run to Plains as we are looking at changing the excursion in 2009. 30 car limit. More details here.

Tennessee Southern Railroad. April 26-27, 2008. NEW! All new track for NARCOA! Two days based out of Columbia, Tennessee. Saturday we'll run south to Big Cut, Alabama and return for a 130 mile day. This route takes us through Amish country. Sunday we'll run another branch to Pulaski for 60 miles (round trip). 15 car limit. Experienced operators only, no mentoring this run. CAGY map

Columbus & Greenville Railroad and Luxapalila Valley Rail. May 17-18,2008. NEW! Both lines owned by CAGY. Saturday we will run from Greenwood, Mississippi west to Greenville and return on the C&G. We hope to also explore the Port Authority Tracks on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River in Greenville. Sunday is a late set-on in Belk, Alabama and we'll run west to Sterns, Mississippi (near Columbus) on the LUX. Looks like motels in Greenwood (in the middle of the state) are the best bet. It's a short drive to Saturday's set-on and Sunday's set-on is late enough that you can drive to it in the morning. Expect 110 miles Saturday and 52 Sunday (round trip miles). $150 trip fee is for both days. 35 car limit. Days can not be split. More details and Registration Forms here: PDF or WORD


GSWR map

Georgia Southwestern Railroad October 18-19. We return to this railroad and will explore some new track. Saturday, Cuthbert, Georgia to Eldorendo (near Bainbridge) and return. Sunday, Cuthbert - Dawson - Cuthbert - Eufaula Ala. - Cuthbert (whew!). Expect 1114 miles Saturday and 93 Sunday (round trip miles). The railroad bridge over the Chattahoochee River at Eufaula should be a lot of fun. Trip fee of $150 is for both days. 35 car limit. More details and Registration Forms here: PDF or WORD


C and C map

Chattooga and Chickamauga. November 1-2, 2008. A repeat for 2007's trip. Saturday, Summerville Georgia to Rossville and return on the old Central of Georgia. Sunday, Kensington, Georgia to Saint Elmo, Tenn. and return on the old TAG Line. We may get to spin on the Summerville turntable. We usually meet a steam train twice on Saturday. Time permitting we'll stop at a track-side cave Saturday. Sunday's trip is very scenic and runs beside Lookout Mountain. Expect 90 miles Saturday and 42 Sunday (round trip miles).
